On May 8, 2024, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of cooperation between AGH University and the Shibaura Institute of Technology. The ceremony was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Poland, Mr. Miyajima Akio, Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives, NAWA and FRSE officials, University Authorities, and over 120 guests, including a Japanese delegation. The event was streamed live to Partner Universities worldwide.

After the opening, AGH Rector Prof. Jerzy Lis gave a welcoming speech. Key speakers included SIT President Dr. Jun Yamada, Ambassador Miyajima Akio, Polish Ambassador to Japan Paweł Milewski (joining online), and representatives from the Ministry, NAWA, and FRSE. Prof. Janusz Szmyd presented the history of Polish-Japanese cooperation. A highlight was the diploma presentation to graduates of the joint Energy and Environmental Engineering program by representatives from both universities. The event also featured the awarding of a doctorate to Dr. Eng. Marcin Pająk for his research on catalyst optimization.
This milestone reaffirms two decades of fruitful collaboration, strengthening academic ties between Poland and Japan and benefiting students, faculty, and the global scientific community.
