Registration at the Voivodeship Office

EU citizens or EEA:

If you stay longer than 3 months you are required to register at the Voivodeship Office of the region (voivodeship) where you are staying. In the case of Krakow, it is a Lesser Poland Voivodeship Office (Małopolski Urząd Wojewódzki).

Citizens of countries other than member states of the EU and EEA have four days for registering their short-term (shorter than three months) stay, starting from the moment of entering the Polish territory, unless they do not wish to spend more than 14 days in Poland. If you plan to stay for period longer than your visa allows, you should apply for a fixed time residence permit. You need to register not later than on the last day of your legal stay (e.g. the last day of your visa validity).

Please note that the procedure takes couple of months. You should submit all the necessary documents as soon as possible.

Required documents:

  • an application form – you need to have pre-arranged appointment at the Voivodeship Office to fill in and submit the application form there
  • 4 recent colour biometric photos
  • 2 copies of a valid travel document (and the original)
  • employment contract as a proof of your financial resources both for the stay and the return journey
  • health insurance confirmation
  • apartment rental agreement, including information about bills
  • fee payment confirmation
  • sworn translations of all documents issued in languages other than Polish
